Senior Machine Learning Engineer

We are looking for a senior ML engineer to design the system around the model — the training path, the feature path, the serving path, and the evaluation loop that tells you any of it still works. You will make the trade-off calls, build the pieces the team reuses, and carry production responsibility for what you ship.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the ML system rather than the model alone: training, features, serving, and the evaluation loop.
- Make and defend the trade-offs — batch versus real-time, model complexity versus latency, retraining frequency versus cost.
- Build the platform pieces the team reuses: pipeline templates, evaluation harnesses, and deployment patterns.
- Own production reliability for the models under your name, including on-call and root cause analysis.
- Set the standards for reproducibility and model review, and what evidence a model needs before it serves traffic.
- Diagnose degradation properly — drift, an upstream schema change, or a feature that silently broke.
- Mentor engineers and pull data scientists into productionization conversations early enough to matter.
- Work with software engineering on integrating models into .NET, Go, and Python services.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years shipping and operating machine learning in production.
- Expert Python and strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Deep PyTorch and classical ML, with sound evaluation judgment.
- Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD applied to ML workloads at production quality.
- Feature engineering pipelines with proven offline and online consistency.
- Production monitoring and incident response for model-backed systems.
- The ability to write a design document and mentor others through building from it.
Nice to Have
- Serving optimization: GPU utilization, batching, quantization, or distillation.
- Operating a feature store or a vector store in production.
- Terraform-managed ML infrastructure across more than one cloud.
- Recommendation, forecasting, or computer vision systems at scale.
