Position Overview

We are looking for an AI engineer to own applied AI features end to end — retrieval, prompting, tool use, evaluation, and rollout. The hard part is not calling a model; it is making the feature behave predictably enough that a product team is willing to put their name on it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own an applied AI feature end to end: retrieval, prompting, tool use, evaluation, and rollout.
  • Build retrieval-augmented flows — ingestion, chunking strategy, embeddings, a vector store such as pgvector, and reranking.
  • Design tool-calling and agent flows with explicit boundaries on what the model is allowed to do.
  • Build the evaluation harness for the feature: golden cases, regression runs, and human review where automation cannot judge.
  • Control cost and latency through caching with Redis, model routing, context budgets, and streaming responses.
  • Implement guardrails — input validation, output constraints, refusal paths, and a fallback for when the model is wrong.
  • Integrate AI services into product backends written in .NET, Go, or Python with clear contracts.
  • Instrument production, and feed the real failures back into the evaluation set rather than fixing them one at a time.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of software engineering, including shipping AI-backed features to real users.
  • Strong Python and production service engineering with tests and CI.
  • Practical retrieval engineering: chunking, embeddings, vector search, reranking, and measured relevance.
  • Prompt and context design with structured outputs, plus a way to evaluate both.
  • Understanding of the cost and latency trade-offs between model choices.
  • Docker and Kubernetes for deploying services.
  • The judgment to know when a deterministic implementation beats a model.

Nice to Have

  • Agent frameworks and multi-step tool orchestration.
  • Fine-tuning or adapter training for a narrow, well-defined task.
  • Streaming interfaces and token-level latency work.
  • Security review of AI features: prompt injection and data exfiltration paths.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
