Artificial Intelligence Architect

We are looking for an AI architect to design how model-backed systems are built across teams — where inference runs, what data may reach it, how quality is proven, and what happens when the model is wrong. You will set the standards, make the hard calls, and write them down so they can be argued with.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the AI reference architecture: model access, retrieval, orchestration, evaluation, observability, and guardrails.
- Set standards for context management, evaluation, and release gating that apply across teams.
- Make and document the hard trade-off calls — hosted versus self-hosted models, retrieval versus fine-tuning, synchronous versus asynchronous flows.
- Design the data boundaries: what may leave the estate, what must be masked, and where inference is allowed to run.
- Architect for cost and scale through routing, caching, context budgets, and capacity planning.
- Define the security architecture for model-backed systems: prompt injection, tool permissions, tenant isolation, and audit trails.
- Review AI designs from engineering teams and approve deliberate deviations from the standard.
- Produce reference implementations and migration paths teams can actually adopt.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years in software or ML engineering, including owning architecture for AI systems.
- Deep understanding of foundation models, retrieval, orchestration, and their failure modes.
- Architecture-level fluency on at least two of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Strong distributed systems design: latency, backpressure, queuing, and isolation.
- Security and privacy architecture for AI, including KVKK and GDPR constraints.
- Terraform and Kubernetes for platforms that can be rebuilt from source.
- Master's degree in a computing or quantitative field, or equivalent depth; strong written decision records.
Nice to Have
- Self-hosted model serving at scale, including GPU scheduling.
- Multi-tenant AI platform design with hard client isolation.
- Evaluation platforms measuring quality both offline and in production.
- Cost modelling and FinOps for inference workloads.
