Machine Learning Architect

Remote Full-time 8+ years Master's Degree
Apply for this Position

Position Overview

We are looking for an ML architect to design the platform models are trained and served on, and the standards that keep them trustworthy. You will define the offline-online feature contract, the promotion and rollback path, and the monitoring architecture — then review what teams build against it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design the ML platform architecture: feature pipelines, training infrastructure, model registry, serving, and monitoring.
  • Set standards for reproducibility, model review, promotion, and rollback that apply across teams.
  • Make and document the trade-off calls — batch versus real-time serving, feature store design, retraining cadence, build versus buy.
  • Define the offline and online feature contract so a feature means the same thing in both paths.
  • Architect for scale and cost: GPU and CPU capacity, autoscaling, batching, and storage layout.
  • Define the monitoring architecture — drift, data quality, model performance, and business impact.
  • Review ML system designs from engineering teams and approve deliberate deviations from the standard.
  • Produce reference architectures and migration paths teams can adopt incrementally.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years in ML and software engineering, including owning platform architecture.
  • Deep knowledge of ML systems across training, features, serving, and monitoring.
  • Architecture-level fluency on at least two of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Kubernetes and Terraform for ML infrastructure that can be rebuilt from source.
  • Strong distributed systems fundamentals: latency, throughput, and failure isolation.
  • Model governance: lineage, auditability, and explainability where it is required.
  • Master's degree in a quantitative or computing field, or equivalent depth; strong written decision records.

Nice to Have

  • Feature store design at scale.
  • GPU scheduling and capacity planning.
  • Real-time inference driven by Kafka streams.
  • ML architecture in a regulated domain, including model risk documentation.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
