Position Overview

We're looking for an engineering manager to lead a software team: the people, the delivery, and the working practices. This is a management role. Your output is the team's output, and your day goes on people and delivery rather than on the critical path of the code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of engineers: one-to-ones, goal setting, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Own delivery for the team - commitments, sequencing, dependencies, and honest status reporting.
  • Hire: define the role, run interviews, calibrate with other interviewers, and onboard the people you bring in.
  • Grow engineers deliberately through development plans, promotion cases, and the work assignments behind them.
  • Handle underperformance directly and early, with a clear plan and written documentation.
  • Own the team's working practices: planning, review, incident process, and on-call rotation.
  • Partner with product on scope and trade-offs, and protect the team from constantly shifting priorities.
  • Escalate delivery risk to leadership before it becomes a missed date.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years in software engineering with a hands-on background, plus experience managing engineers.
  • Experience running one-to-ones, performance conversations, and development planning.
  • A track record of delivering on commitments through a team rather than personally.
  • Hiring experience: interviewing, calibrating, and closing candidates.
  • Enough technical depth to challenge an estimate and understand an architectural trade-off.
  • Ability to give difficult feedback clearly and without waiting for the review cycle.
  • Clear communication with product, leadership, and client stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing a distributed or fully remote team.
  • Experience taking over a struggling team and turning delivery around.
  • A background in .NET, mobile, or frontend engineering before moving into management.
  • Experience building a hiring process rather than only running one.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
