Junior Software Engineer, Android
Remote Full-time 0-2 years Bachelor's Degree
Apply for this Position Position Overview
We're looking for a junior Android engineer who wants to learn the platform properly on a shipping app. You will deliver well-defined screens and fixes in Kotlin, with senior engineers reviewing your work.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement well-defined screens and features in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Wire screens to existing APIs and handle loading, empty, and error states.
- Work within the app's existing architecture: view models, repositories, and their boundaries.
- Fix layout and behaviour issues across screen sizes, densities, and Android versions.
- Write unit tests for view models and business logic.
- Reproduce and fix crashes reported from production using stack traces and logs.
- Act on code review feedback and use it to sharpen the next change rather than repeating the same note.
Skills & Qualifications
- 0-2 years of professional Android experience, or strong project work if you are just starting.
- Solid Kotlin fundamentals, including coroutines at a basic level.
- Working knowledge of Jetpack Compose, or a clear plan to get there quickly.
- Understanding of the Android lifecycle and what configuration changes do to state.
- Comfortable consuming REST APIs from a mobile client.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and pull requests.
Nice to Have
- An app of your own on Google Play.
- Exposure to Kotlin Flow and structured concurrency.
- Any experience with instrumentation testing.
- Interest in Flutter as a cross-platform alternative.
What You'll Gain
- Competitive salary.
- Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
- Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
- Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
- Private health insurance and flexible time off.
