We're looking for a QA engineer who owns the quality of a product area rather than executing someone else's checklist. You will decide what needs testing, how deeply, and whether a release is ready to go.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the test approach for a product area: what gets tested, at which level, and how often.
- Turn requirements and acceptance criteria into cases that cover the edges, not just the main flow.
- Run structured exploratory sessions and turn the findings into permanent regression coverage.
- Test APIs directly against REST and gRPC endpoints, including error and authorization paths.
- Verify outcomes in PostgreSQL when the interface does not show the whole truth.
- Take part in refinement and challenge requirements that cannot be tested as written.
- Own release sign-off for your area and state plainly what is and is not covered.
- Triage incoming defects, assess severity, and keep the defect backlog honest.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2-5 years of professional software testing on web and mobile products.
- Ability to design a test plan from requirements without being told what to check.
- Hands-on API testing experience, including authentication and error handling.
- Working SQL for verifying application state directly.
- Experience testing across browsers, devices, and screen sizes.
- Clear defect reporting and the persistence to reproduce intermittent issues.
- Comfortable saying a release is not ready and explaining exactly why.
Nice to Have
- Enough scripting ability to automate a repetitive check.
- Exposure to performance or security testing fundamentals.
- Familiarity with remote device testing or a device farm.
- Experience with accessibility testing.
