Software Engineer, Automated QA
Remote Full-time 2-5 years Bachelor's Degree
Apply for this Position Position Overview
We're looking for a test automation engineer who treats test code as production code. You will own suites end to end: their structure, their reliability, and the point in the pipeline where they stop a bad change from merging.
Key Responsibilities
- Own automated test suites end to end: structure, coverage, runtime, and reliability.
- Design page object or equivalent abstractions so tests survive routine UI changes.
- Build API-level coverage against REST and gRPC services, including contract and negative cases.
- Drive flakiness down: quarantine, diagnose the root cause, and fix rather than retry.
- Wire suites into GitHub Actions so failures gate merges instead of being ignored.
- Manage test data and environment setup so runs are isolated and repeatable.
- Report coverage and failure trends in terms the team can act on.
- Review test code from other engineers and hold it to the same bar as application code.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2-5 years of test automation experience with a real, maintained suite behind you.
- Strong programming ability in TypeScript, Python, C#, or Java.
- Deep hands-on experience with browser automation such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Experience testing APIs programmatically, including auth flows and error responses.
- Experience running suites in CI and keeping total runtime within a usable budget.
- Understanding of what causes flaky tests and how to remove the cause rather than the symptom.
- The judgement to decide what should not be automated.
Nice to Have
- Experience with mobile automation on Android or iOS.
- Exposure to performance or load testing tools.
- Experience with contract testing between services.
- Familiarity with Docker for spinning up test dependencies.
What You'll Gain
- Competitive salary.
- Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
- Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
- Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
- Private health insurance and flexible time off.
