Apply for this Position Position Overview
We're looking for an architect to own the design of a product line end to end. You will define its service boundaries, data model, and integration points, work within the organisation's wider standards, and stay hands-on enough to prove the design actually works.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of a product line: services, data ownership, and integration contracts.
- Translate product requirements into a technical design the delivery teams can build against.
- Design API and event contracts, and version them so consumers are not broken by your changes.
- Choose the persistence, caching, and messaging approach for each problem and justify the choice.
- Prototype the risky parts yourself before the team commits to a direction.
- Review the team's designs and code against the architecture, and adjust the architecture when reality disagrees.
- Work within the organisation's wider standards for security, observability, and deployment.
- Mentor senior engineers who are moving toward architectural work.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years of engineering experience, including designing systems that other people then built.
- Strong backend depth in .NET / C# or a comparable ecosystem.
- Practical experience with microservices, REST and gRPC contracts, and Kafka-based messaging.
- Solid PostgreSQL and Redis experience, including a clear sense of when not to use them.
- Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one major cloud platform.
- Ability to write a design document a delivery team can build from without a follow-up meeting.
- Willingness to stay hands-on and validate your designs in code.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing systems that span web and mobile clients.
- Exposure to Terraform and infrastructure design.
- Background in fintech, payments, or another correctness-critical domain.
- Experience presenting architecture to client stakeholders.
What You'll Gain
- Competitive salary.
- Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
- Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
- Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
- Private health insurance and flexible time off.
