We're looking for a senior QA engineer who owns quality across a product rather than a feature. You will define how testing is done, decide where the real risk sits, and coach less experienced testers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the quality strategy for a product: risk areas, test levels, and entry and exit criteria.
- Define what gets tested manually, what gets automated, and where the line between them sits.
- Design test approaches for the hard cases: concurrency, permissions, payments, and data migration.
- Run and coach exploratory testing so it produces findings rather than reassurance.
- Own release readiness decisions and the evidence behind them.
- Analyse defect trends and escaped bugs, and feed the causes back into how the team works.
- Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers on test design and defect analysis.
- Represent quality in refinement and design reviews, before the code exists.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years of professional software testing on web and mobile products.
- Proven ability to build a test strategy for a product from scratch.
- Strong API testing skills against REST and gRPC, including auth and error paths.
- Confident SQL for verifying application state and preparing test data.
- Experience with risk-based testing and with defending a no-go decision under pressure.
- Experience coaching other testers and reviewing their test design.
- Clear written communication; able to summarise release risk for people who do not test.
Nice to Have
- Enough automation ability to read and extend an existing suite.
- Experience with performance, security, or accessibility testing.
- Experience in a regulated or payments domain.
- Familiarity with observability tooling for spotting issues after release.
