We're looking for a senior frontend engineer to set the technical direction of the interface layer. You will own architecture decisions in React and Next.js, mentor the engineers around you, and be the person the team trusts on performance and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Own frontend architecture: rendering strategy, state management, and module boundaries.
- Design and maintain the shared component library and the conventions other engineers build on.
- Set performance budgets and defend them, so Core Web Vitals act as a constraint rather than a report.
- Own the accessibility standard for the product and make sure it holds release after release.
- Define the API contracts the frontend needs, working with backend engineers rather than around them.
- Set the testing strategy across component and end-to-end layers.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pairing, design reviews, and careful code review.
- Write design documents for changes that affect more than one team's work.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years of professional frontend experience, with significant time in React.
- Deep Next.js knowledge: rendering modes, caching, routing, and the trade-offs between them.
- Expert TypeScript, including the discipline to keep types useful rather than decorative.
- A track record of improving performance on a real product, with numbers behind it.
- Strong accessibility knowledge, including how assistive technology actually behaves.
- Experience designing a component library that other engineers genuinely use.
- Clear written communication; able to write a technical design doc that ends a debate.
Nice to Have
- Experience with micro-frontend or multi-application architectures.
- Close working experience with designers and design tooling.
- Contributions to open-source frontend projects.
- Experience coaching or leading a small team.
