We're looking for a senior test automation engineer who owns the automation architecture and the confidence the organisation places in it. You will decide what gets automated, keep the suites trustworthy, and make a red pipeline something people take seriously.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of the automation framework across UI, API, and service layers.
- Decide what is worth automating and what should stay manual or move to a lower test level.
- Set reliability targets and enforce them, so a red pipeline always means a real problem.
- Design the test data and environment strategy so runs are isolated and repeatable.
- Own CI gating in GitHub Actions: what blocks a merge, what runs nightly, and why.
- Build contract-level coverage between services so integration breaks surface early.
- Mentor engineers writing test code and review it to production standards.
- Report quality signal - trend, coverage, escape rate - in terms leadership can act on.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years in test automation, including ownership of a framework used by a whole team.
- Strong programming ability in TypeScript, Python, C#, or Java, with the design skills to match.
- Deep experience with browser automation such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Experience with API and contract testing across service boundaries.
- Experience keeping large suites fast through parallelisation and selective execution.
- A track record of eliminating flakiness rather than tolerating it.
- Clear written communication; able to justify automation investment with evidence.
Nice to Have
- Experience with mobile automation on Android and iOS.
- Experience with performance or load testing at scale.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for ephemeral test environments.
- Contributions to open-source testing tools.
