Senior Software Architect

We're looking for a senior software architect to own system-wide design across several teams and products. You will set the standards other engineers build within, make the trade-off calls that are expensive to reverse, and stay close enough to the code to know whether a design survived contact with it.
Key Responsibilities
- Own system-wide architecture: service boundaries, data ownership, and integration patterns.
- Set cross-team engineering standards for APIs, messaging, security, and observability.
- Make and document the trade-off decisions that are expensive to reverse, including the options you reject.
- Design event-driven and microservice topologies on Kafka, and define what belongs in them.
- Set cloud and deployment architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP with Kubernetes and Terraform.
- Review designs from several teams and hold a consistent bar without becoming the bottleneck.
- Lead technical due diligence on new products, migrations, and third-party integrations.
- Coach lead and senior engineers so architectural thinking spreads instead of concentrating in one person.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of engineering experience, several of them in an architecture role.
- Deep experience designing distributed systems in .NET and at least one other ecosystem.
- Command of domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, CQRS, and the failure modes of each.
- Production experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka at scale, including where they stop working.
- Strong cloud architecture experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP with Kubernetes and Terraform.
- Security and compliance literacy: authentication, authorization, data protection, and auditability.
- Excellent written communication; your design documents are how decisions actually get made.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading a migration from a monolith to services, including the parts that went badly.
- Background in fintech, payments, or custody systems.
- Experience defining architecture across mobile, web, and backend at the same time.
- Public writing, talks, or open-source work on system design.
