Senior Natural Language Processing Engineer

We are looking for a senior NLP engineer to design language systems end to end and own how their quality is measured. You will decide where a fine-tuned model, a prompted foundation model, or a plain rule is the right tool, and be able to explain the choice to someone who will have to live with it.
Key Responsibilities
- Design language systems end to end — data, model, retrieval, evaluation, and serving — and defend the design.
- Decide where a fine-tuned model, a prompted foundation model, or a deterministic rule is the right tool.
- Own the evaluation methodology for language quality, including the human review protocol.
- Build the shared components others reuse: preprocessing, embedding pipelines, and evaluation harnesses.
- Diagnose quality regressions to their true cause — data shift, chunking, retrieval, or the model itself.
- Set standards for dataset versioning, licensing hygiene, and handling personal data in text.
- Mentor engineers on method and evaluation, not only on code.
- Work with software engineering on integrating language services into products.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years building NLP systems that ran in production.
- Deep transformer expertise: training, fine-tuning, adaptation, and evaluation.
- Production-quality retrieval systems, including how relevance is actually measured.
- Strong Python engineering — services, tests, and CI.
- Evaluation design including human-in-the-loop protocols.
- Kubernetes and Docker for serving, with awareness of GPU cost and latency.
- The ability to write a design document and mentor others through it.
Nice to Have
- Multilingual or Turkish-specific model adaptation.
- Serving optimization: quantization, distillation, or request batching.
- Document AI and layout-aware extraction.
- Contributions to open NLP tooling or datasets.
