Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

We are looking for a senior BI analyst to design the semantic layer across several business domains and set the standards that keep it coherent. You will decide where logic belongs, certify what leadership is allowed to rely on, and mentor the analysts building on top of your models.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the semantic layer across multiple domains and decide which dimensions must be conformed.
- Set BI standards: naming, certification, definition ownership, and a deprecation policy that is actually enforced.
- Make and document trade-off calls on reporting workloads — materialize or compute, import or direct query, build or buy.
- Lead the modelling for the subject areas where correctness is non-negotiable, such as revenue and finance reporting.
- Review other people's models and reports before they are certified for wider use.
- Draw the line between warehouse models and the BI semantic layer so logic is not implemented twice.
- Mentor BI and analytics engineers on modelling, testing, and performance.
- Diagnose platform-level performance and cost problems rather than tuning one report at a time.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years in business intelligence or analytics engineering.
- Expert dimensional modelling and semantic layer design across more than one domain.
- Advanced SQL plus a working understanding of warehouse internals: partitioning, clustering, materialization.
- Deep expertise in at least one enterprise BI platform, and enough breadth to reason about the alternatives.
- dbt at scale, including tests, documentation, and CI on model changes.
- Governance practice: certification, lineage, ownership, and access design.
- Mentoring experience and the ability to write a design document others can implement from.
Nice to Have
- Data catalog and lineage tooling in production use.
- Leading a migration from a legacy BI stack to a modern one.
- Finance or regulatory reporting where the numbers are audited.
- Client-facing BI delivery in a consulting setting.
