Junior Natural Language Processing Engineer

Remote Full-time 0-2 years Bachelor's Degree
Apply for this Position

Position Overview

We are looking for a junior NLP engineer who finds language genuinely interesting — including the parts that make it hard to process. You will build text components under review, curate datasets, and learn to measure whether a language model output is actually right rather than merely fluent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement well-scoped text processing components under review: normalization, tokenization, and cleaning.
  • Build and evaluate baseline text classifiers and entity extractors.
  • Prepare and curate annotated datasets, and measure annotator agreement where it matters.
  • Run fine-tuning and evaluation jobs and record the configuration and results properly.
  • Write evaluation scripts for language tasks — precision and recall per class, not a single accuracy number.
  • Handle the awkward parts of Turkish and multilingual text: casing, diacritics, agglutination, and encoding.
  • Reproduce a reported result yourself before trusting it.
  • Learn how the language components fit into the product around them.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 0-2 years in an NLP, ML, or software role, or a strong internship or research project.
  • Python plus one deep learning framework such as PyTorch, and familiarity with Hugging Face libraries.
  • NLP fundamentals: tokenization, embeddings, sequence labelling, and text classification.
  • Evaluation literacy for language tasks — precision, recall, F1, and reading a confusion matrix.
  • Some linguistic intuition: morphology, ambiguity, and why a naive split breaks Turkish.
  • Git workflow and reproducible experiment habits.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, linguistics, or a quantitative field, or equivalent grounding.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on work with Turkish text specifically.
  • Exposure to embeddings and vector search.
  • Experience with annotation tooling or running an annotation round.
  • Any experience fine-tuning a transformer model, even on a small dataset.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
