Junior Field Service Technician

You will work at customer sites installing, commissioning, and servicing the equipment ByteGurus systems run on — smart-card and terminal hardware, readers, and the devices attached to them. You will start alongside experienced technicians and take on visits of your own as you prove them out.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission customer-site equipment following the documented procedure.
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance visits and record what was checked.
- Replace faulty units, cabling, and consumables, and label everything you touch.
- Run the acceptance checks after an installation and capture the results in the service record.
- Load firmware and configuration onto devices using the prepared tooling.
- Report faults you cannot resolve on site with photographs, readings, and serial numbers.
- Keep your stock, tools, and calibration records in order.
Skills & Qualifications
- 0-2 years in field service, electronics, or technical installation, or a relevant apprenticeship.
- Degree or vocational qualification in electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
- Able to read a wiring diagram and an installation procedure and follow it exactly.
- Practical with hand tools and basic test equipment such as a multimeter.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
- Careful record keeping — the service record is part of the job, not paperwork after it.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to card readers, payment terminals, or embedded devices.
- Basic networking: IP addressing, cabling, and connecting a device to a customer network.
- Occupational health and safety certification.
- Comfort explaining a technical action to a non-technical site contact.
