Junior Data Scientist

We are looking for a junior data scientist who wants to be taught what a number is allowed to prove. You will run scoped analyses, fit baseline models, and learn to check your work for the things that quietly ruin a result — leakage, a bad split, a sample that was never representative.
Key Responsibilities
- Run well-scoped analyses — cohorting, segmentation, distribution work — with a senior scientist reviewing the method.
- Prepare and validate datasets for modelling: leakage checks, missingness, and outlier handling.
- Fit baseline models with scikit-learn and report the metrics honestly, including where they are weak.
- Implement parts of experiment analysis: assignment checks, metric computation, and significance testing.
- Write notebooks and scripts someone else can rerun and get the same answer from.
- Present findings to your team with the caveats stated out loud, not buried in an appendix.
- Take review feedback on your choice of method, not only on your code.
- Learn the domain behind the data before you start modelling it.
Skills & Qualifications
- 0-2 years in a data science or quantitative analysis role, or a strong internship.
- Python with pandas, numpy, and scikit-learn.
- SQL good enough to pull and shape your own data without asking someone else.
- Solid statistics: distributions, hypothesis testing, regression, and the bias-variance trade-off.
- A working understanding of train, validation, and test splits and how overfitting shows up.
- Reproducible working habits — version control, fixed seeds, declared environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent grounding.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to A/B test design or analysis.
- Time-series forecasting basics.
- Some hands-on time with PyTorch.
- Care about how a result is visualized, not only whether it is correct.
