We are looking for a junior BI analyst to build reports on top of existing semantic models and learn how a reporting platform is actually held together. You will implement scoped changes under review, reconcile every number before it is published, and document what you build so the next person can trust it.
Key Responsibilities
- Build reports and dashboards on top of existing semantic models, following the established patterns.
- Implement well-scoped changes to measures and dimensions, with a senior colleague reviewing each one.
- Maintain dataset refresh schedules and report failures with enough detail to be actionable.
- Document each report: which measure, at which grain, for which audience, owned by whom.
- Reconcile report totals against source data before anything is published.
- Handle access requests and straightforward row-level security changes as directed.
- Sit in on requirements sessions and turn what you hear into a written report specification.
- Learn the warehouse schema and what the core dimensions actually mean to the business.
Skills & Qualifications
- 0-2 years in a BI, reporting, or analytical role, or a strong internship.
- SQL fundamentals: joins, aggregation, and CTEs.
- Hands-on time in at least one BI tool such as Power BI, Looker Studio, or Metabase — building, not only viewing.
- Understanding of facts, dimensions, and why the grain of a table matters.
- The instinct to notice when a total looks wrong and to check before publishing.
- Habitual documentation — you write down what you built and why.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, business, or information systems field, or equivalent grounding.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to DAX, LookML, or another measure definition language.
- Familiarity with dbt or version-controlled transformation code.
- Power Query or spreadsheet modelling experience.
- An interest in visualization design beyond the tool defaults.
