Position Overview

We are looking for a data visualization specialist to own how insight is communicated — the chart form, the encoding, the layout, and the order a reader meets the argument in. This is a craft role: you will be the person who notices that the chart is technically correct and still misleading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own how analysis is communicated visually: chart form, encoding, layout, and narrative order.
  • Design dashboards that answer their question at a glance and still hold up to a second, closer look.
  • Build a chart system the whole team works within — palette, type scale, annotation style, and chart-form guidance.
  • Implement custom visualizations with D3 or Vega-Lite where a BI tool's defaults cannot express the data honestly.
  • Make visuals accessible: colour-blind-safe palettes, sufficient contrast, readable labels, and never colour as the only encoding.
  • Review other people's charts and fix the ones that mislead — truncated axes, dual axes, and the wrong chart form.
  • Produce presentation-grade visuals for reports and client readouts in both Turkish and English.
  • Work with analysts to establish what the data actually supports before deciding how to draw it.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-5 years in data visualization, analytics, or design with a strong data focus.
  • Real grasp of visual encoding — what belongs on position, length, or colour, and what does not belong on a chart at all.
  • Hands-on dashboard work in a BI tool, well beyond the default templates.
  • D3, Vega-Lite, plotly, or matplotlib for charts a BI tool cannot produce.
  • SQL good enough to fetch and shape your own data.
  • Accessibility and contrast literacy applied to charts, not just to interfaces.
  • A portfolio that shows your reasoning, ideally including work you redesigned.

Nice to Have

  • Front-end skills for embedded or interactive visuals.
  • Editorial or data journalism experience.
  • Design system experience, including maintaining one others use.
  • Geospatial or network visualization.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
