Position Overview

We are looking for a data engineer to own the pipelines and warehouse models for a data domain end to end. You will move data from operational systems into models analysts and scientists can trust, and be the person who notices before they do when something upstream changes shape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own ingestion and transformation for a data domain end to end, including what happens when it breaks.
  • Build batch and streaming ingestion — Kafka topics, change data capture from PostgreSQL, API and file sources.
  • Model warehouse tables from staging through to marts with dbt, and own the contracts consumers rely on.
  • Orchestrate with Airflow: dependencies, backfills, retries, and pipelines that are safe to re-run.
  • Instrument freshness, volume, and schema tests, and alert only on the ones somebody would act on.
  • Optimize runtime and cost through partitioning, incremental models, and sensible file layout.
  • Handle schema evolution without silently breaking the reports and models downstream.
  • Support the analysts and scientists using your tables, and fix the model rather than the symptom.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-5 years building data pipelines in production.
  • Strong Python and SQL, written to be maintained by someone else.
  • PostgreSQL plus hands-on experience with at least one cloud data warehouse.
  • Airflow or an equivalent orchestrator in production, including running a real backfill.
  • dbt or another transformation framework kept under version control.
  • Kafka or another streaming or change data capture path into the warehouse.
  • Docker and CI, and enough comfort to deploy your own work.

Nice to Have

  • Spark or another distributed processing engine for large batch workloads.
  • Terraform for provisioning data infrastructure.
  • Kubernetes as the execution environment for data jobs.
  • Lakehouse table formats such as Iceberg or Delta.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
