Data Architect

Remote Full-time 8+ years Master's Degree
Apply for this Position

Position Overview

We are looking for a data architect to design how data moves, is stored, and is trusted across the whole estate. You will set the standards teams build within, make the batch-versus-streaming and warehouse-versus-lakehouse calls, and write migration paths that a delivery team can actually execute one step at a time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design the end-to-end data architecture: ingestion, storage, transformation, serving, and consumption.
  • Set standards for modelling, data contracts, quality, and lineage that apply across teams.
  • Make and document platform-level trade-off calls — batch versus streaming, lakehouse versus warehouse, build versus buy.
  • Define domain and ownership boundaries so teams can move independently without three divergent copies of the same table.
  • Architect security and governance: classification, masking, retention, and access.
  • Review designs from data engineering and BI, and approve deliberate deviations from the standard.
  • Define the migration path from the current state to the target architecture in steps a team can deliver.
  • Set the evaluation criteria for new tooling and run the evaluations rather than trusting a vendor deck.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years in data engineering and architecture, including owning architecture decisions.
  • Depth across warehousing, lakehouse, streaming, and operational stores — PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka.
  • Architecture-level fluency on at least two of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Strong modelling across dimensional and normalized approaches, plus data contract design.
  • Governance and security architecture, including retention and regulatory constraints such as KVKK and GDPR.
  • Terraform and Kubernetes for platforms that can be rebuilt from source.
  • Master's degree in a quantitative or computing field, or equivalent depth; strong written decision records.

Nice to Have

  • Domain-oriented data ownership at organisation scale.
  • Real-time architectures built on Flink or Kafka Streams.
  • Multi-tenant data platform design with hard client isolation.
  • Cost modelling and capacity planning for a growing platform.

What You'll Gain

  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote — work from wherever you're most productive.
  • Annual learning budget for books, courses, and conferences.
  • Top-tier hardware and software tooling.
  • Private health insurance and flexible time off.
