Position Overview

This internship is for someone who wants to see how data actually becomes a decision, from a raw table to a model to a number somebody acts on. You will work on small, well-defined tasks with a mentor reviewing every step, and rotate close enough to analytics, data engineering and machine learning to find out which of them you like.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work through a structured onboarding into the stack: SQL, Python, and how a pipeline runs end to end.
  • Complete small, well-defined tasks with a mentor reviewing each step before it is merged.
  • Write SQL queries to explore datasets and check your results against a second source.
  • Add tests and documentation to existing pipelines as a way of learning how they behave.
  • Shadow analysts, data engineers, and ML engineers to see how each approaches the same dataset.
  • Build a small end-of-internship project with a defined scope and regular mentor check-ins.
  • Ask questions early instead of guessing, and keep notes on what you learn.
  • Present what you built at the end, including what you would do differently.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in a quantitative or computing field.
  • Python basics: functions, loops, and reading data with pandas.
  • SQL basics: SELECT, JOIN, and GROUP BY.
  • Genuine curiosity about how data turns into a decision.
  • Willingness to have your work reviewed, questioned, and sometimes rewritten.
  • Clear written communication — you can describe what you did and why.
  • Availability for the full internship period.

Nice to Have

  • A course project, notebook, or repository you can walk us through.
  • Some exposure to git.
  • Introductory statistics coursework.
  • An early interest in one area — analytics, pipelines, or machine learning.
